“We CARE”:
Courage, Aspire, Respect and Explore
Our vision of teaching a child how to live, and that it will remain with them and our We CARE values, are at the heart of everything we do, and underpin every aspect of our Curriculum. We are proud that our pupils have a growing moral sense of their responsibility and identity in the world. Our aim is to be a school that confidently stands on the global stage, not afraid to tackle big issues and be ready to make change. We have global learning threaded through our Curriculum and staff and pupils are proud to hold the “Eco-Schools Green Flag Award”, as well as being part of the “Freedom to Learn Sister Schools Project” – paired with Kushadevi School in Nepal.
Learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom at MOSPS, with our outdoor learning philosophy, we make the best use of our spacious outdoor areas such as: “Little Wood” (our on site Forest School area, including out school garden and eco-pod), and for our Year 5/6s, our amazing coastline, through our Beach School programme. Trips and extra-curricular activities also form part of our exciting topic based Curriculum.
We are CORAGEOUS in our learning, which is a core value for our school. Through the life of Jesus we can draw inspiration for having the courage to stand up for what is right in all circumstances and we can find the courage to persevere in times of great challenge from the understanding that “…the Lord your God is with us wherever we go.” Joshua 1:9
We want our pupils to ASPIRE to achieve their best and take action for a better world. Through the stories of Jesus’ life, we can draw inspiration to overcome obstacles on the way to understanding who we are and who are made to become. The Bible says; ‘I can do all things through Him who strengthens me’.
We have RESPECT for ourselves and others. It is an important core value because it is the foundation stone of relationships within our school and wider community. Through the Bible we can explore how God encourages us to respect all others, regardless of differences, values and beliefs, and to respect ourselves. The Bible says; ‘So in everything do to others what you would have them do unto you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets’ Matthew 7:12.
We want our pupils to EXPLORE who they are, their faith or spirituality, God’s world and their place in it. As a school we want our pupils to recognise the gifts they have been given for the benefit of the whole world.
