Global learning can be described as an approach to learning about international development through recognising the importance of linking people’s lives throughout the world. Global learning encourages critical examination of global issues and an awareness of the impact that individuals can have on them.
Incorporating a global element into teaching across the curriculum can help schools to develop a richer, more interesting curriculum, use real-world contexts to enthuse, inspire and engage pupils, support raising standards, deliver SMSC and respond positively to the current focus on British values, help pupils make sense of the world in which they live as well as to understand their role within a global society, and to develop an ethos encouraging empathy, fairness and respect.
MOSPS, is a school that has achieved the highest level of accreditation in the Christian Aid Global Neighbours scheme, which recognises our commitment to educating students about global poverty, injustice, and the Christian responsibility to act. This level of achievement proves that the school has a deeply embedded culture of global citizenship, evidenced by significant student leadership and participation in “courageous advocacy” to promote change.

We are committed to take action on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and work towards global resolutions linked to these.
We are proud to hold the Eco-Green Flag Award and have a dedicated team of young Eco warriors in the school.

We have a team of ‘Freedom to Learn’ Friendship Ambassadors who frequently link up and work with our sister school in Nepal, as well as taking part in a number of events throughout the year to raise awareness, as well as funds, for the charity.
We participate in projects like Fairtrade Week, Volvo Ocean Race, Forest School, Beach School, Switch off Fortnight, Worldwide Veterinary Service, Surfers Against Sewage and the Plastic Bottle Boat Challenge, with many of the these activities being pupil initiated and led.

Staff have received training from the Global Learning Project and are endeavouring to embed the global principles across the whole of our curriculum.
